A virtual machine commonly known as VM has the same features as your physical computer like a laptop or smartphone. It has a memory, CPU, disks, and have the ability to connect to the internet. For example UTM. UTM VM  is a virtual machine that provides the virtual framework to run any operating system. It is very helpful for mac users as now the mac users can run any other operating system on their Apple Silicon. Some of the common features of UTM VM:

  • It is free to use.
  • It is Open-source.
  • It can easily run on your System.

We can download VM on M1 with Apple Silicon using UTM. Most Mac users already know that with Silicon chips other Virtual machines will not work. But if you have an intel x86/x64 operating system then they are compatible with other VM as compared to Silicon chip. 

Downloading VM on M1 with Apple Silicon 

The steps to download VM on M1 with Apple Silicon are as follows:

Step 1: If you are having M1 Apple Silicon and you want to install other operating systems on your Mac using a virtual machine then you can download UTM.

Step 2: After downloading UTM you will see the file named UTM.dmg on your Mac and click on it.

Step 3: After that click on UTM.

Click-on-UTM.

 

Step 4: After clicking on UTM you will see various options like creating a new virtual machine, Browsing the UTM gallery, User guide, and Support. 

 

 

Step 5: Now, click on the create a new virtual machine and proceed with the steps as per your VM requirements of the operating system that you want to install on your Mac. The operating system that you will be installing will appear on the left side of the UTM main screen.
