A default gateway is a node that enables a connection between networks in order to allow machines on other networks to communicate, In other words, the default gateway is an intermediate node between the local network and the internet. 

In this article, we will learn How to find the default gateway IP address of a machine. The IP address of the Default Gateway node is the default gateway IP address.

Method 1:  Default gateway IP address in Windows Using Cmd

Step 1:  Open Command Prompt on windows.

Step 2: Type the following command on the windows command prompt.

ipconfig

 

 

Method 2:  Default gateway IP address in Windows

Following are the steps to find the default gateway IP address in windows.

Step 1:  Open the control panel

Step 2: Click on the network and internet.

 

Step 3: Click on View network status and tasks

 

Step 4: Click on the available connection then a dialog box will pop up with the information about the network.

 

Step 5: Click on the details, and you will find the default gateway IP.

 

Step 6:  You are now able to see your IPv4 Default Gateway.

 

Method 3 : Default gateway IP address in UBUNTU

Step 1: Open Terminal Emulator on Ubuntu.

Step 2: Type the following command on the terminal emulator.

ip route show
