How to Download and Install Skype on Windows?

The Skype application is the most popular telecommunications and video conferencing application operated by Skype Technologies under Microsoft Corporation. Skype currently has more than 100 million users all over the world as of March 2020. The Skype application operates the users for the  VoIP-based video conferencing and voice calls. It also allows the users to perform instant messaging, file transfer, and debt-based calls to various Skype users all over the world.

Since the Skype application is the most popular telecommunications application all over the world, so it has its availability on various software platforms like Windows, iOS, Android, and MacOS too. Skype has grown a lot from the time it started in 2003. Now, the users on the Skype application has the access to perform private chat and communications with any other Skype user all over the world.

Installing Skype on Windows

Follow the below steps to install Skype on Windows:

Step 1: Visit the official website of Skype using any web browser like Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, etc.

Step 2: Press the “INSTALL” button on the website to start the download of the Skype Application.

Step 3: It will then automatically re-direct you to the Windows Store App by Microsoft for the Windows device and the download will start in the background.

Step 4: After the download gets finished, the Skype app will get installed within 2-3 minutes and then show up on the all programs list of the Start menu.

Step 5: Click on the Skype app to open it.

Step 6: After the Skype app opens up, it will show you a login button on the home page, where you have to use your login credentials (username and password) to login into your Microsoft account. If you don’t have an existing account, then you have to create a new account.

Step 7: Now, the Skype application will ask you to test the audio and video of your device through which your device is getting connected. It tests whether your microphone and camera are working properly or not.

Step 8: Now, the home page of the Skype application looks like the following. To start a new Skype meeting click on the Meet Now button to start an instant meeting with other members.
