Use of ShareX

The following techniques are used by ShareX to enable screen capture:

For Pictures

  • Creates a screenshot of the entire screen when set to fullscreen.
  • Captures the screen region where the mouse pointer or cursor is currently located on an active display.
  • The user can choose which window to take a screenshot of from a list of all the current windows in the window menu.
  • The user can choose which monitor to take a screenshot of from the list of monitors on the monitor menu. Drag the mouse from one corner of the rectangle to the diagonally opposite corner to take a screenshot of a single or several rectangular regions that have been drawn there.
  • Allows users to snap a screenshot of a rectangle area (Objects). When a window or an icon is an item, it will automatically choose a rectangular region, eliminating the need for the user to mouse-drag the area.
  • Rectangle (Annotate): This rectangle capture lets you annotate the image, similar to the Light version that is described below.
  • Rectangle (Light): An entry-level Rectangle capture program made for sluggish PCs.
  • The only difference between these alternatives and rectangle capture is their shape: rounded rectangles, ellipses, triangles, and diamonds.
  • The user can click on points on the screen to form polygons and then utilize those shapes to capture areas.
  • Freehand: This feature enables the user to sketch regions much like they would with a pencil, and the area is then photographed.
  • Last Region: We will do the most-frequented screen capture again.

For Movies

Users can record a portion of their screen or the complete screen using the screen recording (FFmpeg) software. Using real-time compression techniques like x264, VP8, and Xvid, FFmpeg enables users to capture the entire screen, including sound.
Users can capture a portion of their screen or the complete screen in animated GIF format for screen recording.

Auto capture: This feature enables the user to automatically capture a portion of the screen at a predetermined frequency.

Set Output to FFmpeg under Screen Recorder Tab

Choose Task settings in the Main window. Select Screen recorder from the Capture menu in the Task Setting window. From the output drop-down option, select FFmpeg as the output format.

The Following Screen Recording Options are editable:

  • How many frames are being captured per second is indicated by the screen recorder’s FPS. Ideal for desktop recording are 20 frames.
  • After a fixed amount of time, the recording will end. Duration is not necessary when using a hotkey because you can pause the recording whenever you choose. It is advised to disable it because its primary usage is to create animated GIFs.
  • The recording’s start time is determined by the start delay option. So, 0.5 seconds will allow you enough time to relocate your cursor to the recording region before the recording starts.

FFmpeg Choices

The most recent version of FFmpeg will automatically download and extract itself to the Tools folder when you click the Download button. There is no need for you to manually download FFmpeg from the website.
