Most people know that they need to be careful of viruses or malware on their devices. These can come in the form of a keylogger, which is a pretty clever way to steal passwords and bank details. Fortunately, there are ways to identify the presence of a keylogger on your iPhone by running anti-malware software on your device. This can help detect any intrusion from external sources that might interfere with data synchronization or theft. Detecting keyloggers on iPhones running iOS 8 is really quite simple. All you need to do is install an anti-malware app and scan through it, looking for any suspicious entries. If you’re using a computer, then there’s no problem here as you can simply follow the same process.

Detect and remove keylogger from iPhone

There are two ways to detect a keylogger on your iPhone: use the phone’s built-in tools and/or change your settings.

  • Use the phone’s built-in tools: If you’re jailbroken, go into Settings → General → Passcode Lock and choose “Erase Data” before restoring your device to its default settings.
  • Change your settings: If you’ve set up a passcode, go into Settings → Touch ID & Passcode and decide “Erase Data”.

Steps to detect and remove keylogger on iPhone:

  • Go to Settings → Touch ID & Passcode, and decide “Turn Passcode On”
  • Enter your passcode or ID password and then enter the “Erase Data” setting if you want to erase all sensitive data from your device.
  • Go back to the main menu, then press and hold the “Home” key on your device.
  • Tap “Settings” and tap “General”. You will see a lot of options at the bottom of your iPhone home panel, and you’ll need to scroll down to see the option “Privacy”
  • Come to the homepage again, this time press and hold “Settings”, you will see a lot of options at the bottom of your iPhone home panel, tap on ” Privacy” once more.
  • Tap “Erase All Content and Settings”.
  • When you see the warning message, tap “Erase” to erase all data from your phone.
  • After that tap “Erase iPhone”.
  • Connect your iPhone to iTunes and choose to restore it from an existing backup. You’ll need to have a backup of your phone before this process will work correctly.
  • After restoring, don’t forget to set up a new password for your iPhone’s settings and set it back to a normal state.

Countermeasures:

  • If you disable third-party apps from accessing your sensitive data, such as passwords and banking details, then this will minimize the risk of a keylogger, or other malicious software found within these apps being able to steal them.
  • This can be done by going into the settings menu on your phone and accessing it by tapping on “Settings” on the home screen or by pressing the home and power keys simultaneously. Once in Settings, navigate to “General” and scroll down through “Accessibility” until you see an option that reads “Passcode Lock”. Now tap that and set it to off (in most cases).

Conclusion:

The keylogger can alter the settings on your device or create multiple accounts with user permissions without your permission. They can also access your emails, text messages, and even social media accounts and profiles. This is a difficult one to address, as it depends on personal choice and how much you are willing to risk falling victim to malicious theft on the web. If keyloggers seem like they could be a real threat, then I’d recommend using more advanced software that covers all aspects of security, rather than just relying on an anti-keylogger app. That way you will be equipped against any intrusions that might try to gain access to sensitive information stored on your device or connected services.
