How to Create Bootable USB Drive For Windows 11 With Rufus?

Windows 11 is the latest upgrade of the Windows operating system. This is more flexible & useful than the previous version. Windows 10 was replaced by Windows 11. The catchy look of Windows 11 helps a lot to attract more users to it. Also, it has more ability than Windows 10. For such reasons, Windows 11 is getting hits every day. Also, it has one more special feature. All those devices which have Windows 10 as the operating system, can easily be upgradable to Windows 11. Microsoft released this version of the operating system in October 2021.

As Windows 11 are widely used throughout the globe, it is important to create a bootable USB drive for Windows 11. Bootable USB drives are used for other machines that have other operating systems. Also, this process can be used by users who have a very old Windows operating system. If a user has Windows 7 or Windows XP & need to convert their device to Windows 11. For all that cases, they have to take the help of the bootable USB drive for Windows 11. Also, before going for the upgrade, they need to clarify the system configuration beforehand.

Before a user goes through the process to create a bootable USB drive for Windows 11, they need to have a look at the required prerequisites. These are the components of configurations, users need to do before starting the process.

  • Windows 11 ISO File: This is the most significant component in this process. Users first need to install the ISO file on their machine. ISO files help to make a bootable USB drive of that operating system. For downloading the Windows 11 ISO file, users can use the Official Page Of Windows 11. There, they can download the ISO file.

Note: The ISO file of Windows 11 has a 5 GB size. It will consume 5 GB of data while downloading. So, it is advisable to set up nearly 6 GB of data. Then users can easily go through the installation process. Also, high-speed internet is required. Otherwise, the installation will get canceled due to the low speed of the internet.

  • Rufus Application: This is the main software that is needed for creating the bootable USB drive. This is a simple application. We don’t need to install it over the machine. Users need to only download the .exe file to the machine. For downloading the .exe file, users can go through the Official Page Of Rufus. From there, they can download the file.
  • USB Drive: Another important component is a USB Drive. Users need to insert the USB drive into the machine. Inside this USB drive, the ISO file will be inputted. This USB drive will be completely changed then. It will get a new name after going through the process. A minimum of 8 GB of USB drive should be used by the users. This makes the process easy & fast.

Disclaimer: The USB drive that will be used in the process must be a blank one. Otherwise, all the data stored inside that USB drive will be removed. Simply, the USB drive will be formatted. So, the user’s earlier data will be lost from the USB drive. So, it is advisable to use a completely blank USB drive. Otherwise, users’ please back up the USB data to other devices.

Creating Bootable USB Drive For Windows 11 With Rufus:

Step 1: At first, we need to insert the USB drive into the machine. Users need to wait till the machine reads the USB drive & makes it ready for the further process.

Note: Users are advised to only follow the below-mentioned steps. In the Rufus software, there is more options present. Users need to change those options which are said in the below process. It is advisable not to make any changes to any other options or drop-down menus. This can hamper the whole process.

Step 2: Now, users need to open the downloaded Rufus .exe file. It will open a window in front of the users. First, from the drop-down list, users need to choose the USB drive. 

Note: It is advisable, at this time, only insert one USB drive into the machine. That USB drive should be used for this process. If many USB drives are inserted by the users, it will create more confusion for users. Deciding on any wrong USB drive can remove all the data from there. So, users need to insert the certain USB drive that is going to be booted.

 

Step 3: Now, it is time to select the ISO file. Users need to click on the Select button. Then a File Explorer window will open in front of the users. From there, they need to browse to the proper drive where the ISO file is downloaded. Then they need to select that. So, the file will be available there.

 

Step 4: After adding the ISO file, users need to provide the Partition Scheme there. Users need to click on the drop-down options. There will be two options. One is MBR & another is GPT.  As per the partition scheme of the machine, the user needs to specify the correct one.

Note: Users need to provide the correct details here. If the wrong details are provided in this case, the whole process will not be complete. Users can easily check their device’s partition scheme. Just they need to type Disk Management in the Start Menu. A Disk Management window will open. There they will find the necessary details from the properties of any disk. It is advisable to always check the Partition Scheme before providing the details in this step.

 

Step 5: Now, we need to click on the Start button. It will start the process.

 

Step 6: The process will take a long time. Users need to wait till the process is completed. The completion of the process depends upon the size of the USB drive. A large-size USB drive will take a small amount of time.

Note: It is advisable not to remove the USB drive while the process is running. It will damage the machine & the USB drive as well. Users need to keep patients till the process is completed.

 

Step 7: As soon as the process is completed, users can see a message READY. Now, it is time to close the Rufus software. Users need to click on the Close button. Now, the USB drive is completely changed. It has a new name as well. It is ok to remove the USB drive from the device.

 

Hence, we have successfully created a bootable USB drive for Windows 11 with Rufus.
