How to Create an Unnamed file in Windows?

There is curiosity hidden inside everyone. So when it comes to computers we all try to know why this is happening, what will happen if I run this software, what will happen if I delete some of Windows files and etc.

We also sometimes try to make a file without a name in Windows and fail and then, first of all, we search on the internet that whether it is possible to create an unnamed file in Windows or not (just like we can’t create a folder named “con” in the Windows)?

The methods to create an Unnamed file in Windows are described below: 

 

Method 1: Using Key combinations

We can create an Unnamed file in Windows by following the below steps: 

Step 1: Right-click in the directory where you want to create the file and select the type of the file which you want to create by selecting the new option from the dialog box. 

 

Step 2: Now erase the default name New Text Document as shown below: 
 

Step 3: Now press Alt button on keyboard and then type 255 from keyboard or in general type Alt + 255. After that release all pressed button and hit Enter button. The Unnamed file will be created successfully. 
 

 

Method 2: Using Character Map

We can create an Unnamed file in Windows by following the below steps: 

Step 1: Right-click in the directory where you want to create the file and select the type of the file which you want to create by selecting the new option from the dialog box. 
 

Step 2: This time we will use Character Map of Windows. 
Some of ways to access Character Map in Windows 10 is given below: 

Way 1: Searching for Character Map in Windows search box: 
 

 
 

 

Way 2: Click Start and then scroll down until you find Windows Accessories, Click on Windows Accessories and then click on Character Map
 

 

 

After opening Character Map application, search for blank Character in it by scrolling down as in the below image: 
 

 

 

Step 3: Click on the blank Character box and then click on the Select button. After then copy this character by clicking on Copy button. 
 

 

 

Step 4: Now erase the default name New Text Document as shown below. 
 

 

 

Step 5: Click Ctrl + v to paste the character we copied earlier. The Unnamed file will be created successfully.
