How to Change Your Theme in Gnome Desktop Environment?

GNOME is a fairly simple and streamlined Linux graphical user interface (GUI).  It provides a unique desktop experience. GNOME should suit you well if you are looking for a different and modern user interface design. GNOME desktop environment (DE) is extremely intuitive and easy to use. It is the default DE in many popular Linux distros like Ubuntu, Fedora, Manjaro, and so on.
We can change the look and feel of our DE using the gnome-tweaks tool. To change the theme we’ve to install the gnome-tweaks tool and user theme extension. Follow the below steps in order to change your GNOME DE theme.

Step 1: Install gnome-tweaks by executing the below command in the terminal.

sudo apt update && sudo apt install gnome-tweaks

Step 2: Install GNOME shell integration browser and User theme extensions.

The user theme extension is been installed successfully.

Step 3: Pick a theme of your choice. Here we have downloaded the Sweet Colorful Gtk theme https://www.gnome-look.org/p/1253385. We can download a lot of themes from https://www.gnome-look.org/⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠⁠

Step 4: Extract and apply theme:

  1. Extract it into the “.themes”  folder. Hint: Press (CTRL + H)  to view hidden files and folders.

        2. Apply it using the gnome-tweaks tool.

Step 5: Go to: Appearance -> Themes -> Applications -> select your theme.

So, we have successfully changed our Theme in Gnome Desktop Environment.
