We can assert that all whole numbers are real numbers, but that isn’t true. Whole numbers and negative natural numbers make up the set of integers. As a result, integers comprise both positive and negative numbers, as well as the number zero. Natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, and fractions are all forms of numbers that make up the set of real numbers.

Whole numbers are the full set of natural numbers, including ‘0’. 0, 11, 25, 36, 999, 1200, and so on are some instances. Whole numbers are positive integers that include zero but it does not include fractional or decimal parts (3/4, 2.2, and 5.3 are not whole numbers). Whole numbers are represented by the symbol W. Percent 

Percent or Percentage is a number that represents the hundredth part of any amount and is denoted by the percent sign %. A percent is also known as a ratio or fraction in which the total always equals 100. It is a dimensionless number, which means it lacks a unit of measurement.

Percentage simply implies one out of a hundred. The word “percent” has comes from the Latin phrase “per centum,” which implies that means “by a hundred”. Example: To convert the percentage into whole number, Remove the percent sign then Divide the numerator with 100 

  • First case: 10% we can write as 10/100 in fraction or 0.10 in decimal form but decimal or fraction doesnot come in whole numbers .
  • Second case: 200 % we can write it as 200/100 as simplified it 2, which is a whole number 

So it is clear that we can convert percent to whole number by dividing it 100 but it is not necessary that it will always give result in whole number.

Some Examples of percentage,  

  • 20% of 300 is equal to (20/100) × 300 = 60
  • 40% is equal to 40/100 = 4/10 = 2/5 
  • 25% is equal to 25/100 = 1/4 …

Sample Questions

Question 1: What will be the result when converting 3.3% to decimals?

Solution: 

Here given: 3.3%

First we will remove the percent symbol and then divide it by 100.

Therefore, 3.3% = 33/100 

= 0.33 

Hence, it is not a whole number.

Question 2: Find the 30% of the whole number 225?

Solution: 

Here 30% we can write as 30/100

Now 30% of 225

And multiply the whole number 225 by 30/100

= (30/100) × 225

By simplifying

= 67.5

Therefore the 30% of 225 is 67.5 

Question 3: Convert 300% into a whole number?

Solution: 

Given: 300% 

To convert it into whole number 

First remove the percent sign and divide it by 100 

Therefore we can write 300% as 300/100

= 300/100

= 3 

Hence 3 is a whole number. 

Question 4: At the shop, there is 35% off on purchases worth Rs 4000. Find the percentage in value?

Solution:

Here the off is 35%

cost of product = 4000

Now to find 35% of 4000

We can write as 35% = 35/100

Now multiply the whole 4000 by 35/100

= 4000 × 35/100

By simplifying

=  40 × 35

= 1400

So there will be Rs 1400 off on purchase of worth Rs 4000

Therefore the percentage of 35% in value is Rs 1400 .

Question 5:  Find 45 % of 600?

Solution:  

Here 45 % we can write as 45/100

Now 45% of 600

Multiply the number 600 by 45/100

= (45/100) × 600

By simplifying

= 45 × 6

Therefore the 45 % of 600 is 270

Question 6:  Find the 50% of the whole number 325?

Solution: 

Here 50% we can write as 50/100

Now 50% of 325

And multiply the whole number 325 by 50/100

= (50/100) × 325

By simplifying

= 16250/100

Therefore the 50% of 325 is 162.5
