How to Animate a Butterfly in Flash?

Motion is an important aspect of any animated scene so if objects have motion they feel alive, but there are cases when the whole body is still but some part is moving for example a butterfly in which only wings need motion while the rest of the body can be put on other layer and does not need animation in these situations layering feature of flash is a boon to animators. We are going to animate such a scene.

Animating a Butterfly

Butterfly animation is really attractive and is used in the scenes of open grounds and in summer or autumn scenes. The main thing in butterfly animation is the wings of the butterfly so we will animate the wings of the butterfly to give a flying effect. We will use one of the simplest methods to animate wings and for this, we need a vector image of the butterfly. Follow the below steps to create a butterfly animation.

Step 1: Open a new project in Adobe Flash.

Step 2: Import the image of the butterfly on the stage.

Step 3: Assemble the wings on the body.

Step 4: Convert it into a symbol.

Step 5: Double click to enter inside the symbol and add new layers to place different body parts on a new layer.

Step 6: Now insert a keyframe at frame 5 by pressing F6 and changing the shape of wings using the free transform tool.

Step 7: Select middle frames and apply classic tween.

Step 8: Now insert a keyframe at frame 10 by pressing F6 and changing the shape of wings using the free transform tool.

Step 9: Select middle frames and apply classic tween.

Step 10: Now copy all the keyframes from frame 5 and paste them on frame 13.

Step 11: Similarly copy all the keyframes from frame 1 and paste them on frame 17.

Step 12: Double click to come out of the symbol to the main screen.

Step 13: Insert a frame at frame 90.

Step 14: Press the run button to see the animation.

Congratulations your butterfly animation is ready now you can click Ctrl + Enter to see the animation effect.
