How to Add Slide Numbers or Date and Time in MS PowerPoint?

  • Last Updated : 30 Jun, 2021

Microsoft PowerPoint is a presentation of topics that allows us to create “presentation slides” that can be displayed on the computer screen or on a widescreen. A PowerPoint presentation is a good way to convey information to a large audience. It helps in creating a topic properly by providing various features like editing, graphical animations, and many more. A user does not have to carry around any slides or slide projector, and, if necessary, can make any last-minute changes to the presentation.

Features of MS PowerPoint are:

  1. Slide Design
  2. Animations
  3. Insert Icons, and 3D models
  4. Video Recording
  5. Slide Layout
  6. Slide Transitions
  7. Visual effects etc.

Adding Slide Numbers

Adding page numbers to our slides is necessary because it helps other readers to find a particular page of the numbered document in very less time and also helps us to know the size of the entire document (by just checking the last page number). It also helps us to keep our slides in a sequential manner.

Steps to add Slide Numbers:

Step 1: On the navigation menu click on the insert option.

Step 2: On the text group menu click on the slides number as shown:

Step 3: Then a Header and Footer dialog box will open.

Step 4: Check the box of slide number.

Step 5: Now if you want to add slide number only on one page (i.e. current page) then click on Apply option or if you want to add slides numbers in all the slides then click on Apply all option.

Finally, page numbers are added to your slides

Adding Date and Time

Step 1: On the navigation menu click on the insert option.

Step 2: On the text group menu click on Date & Time option as shown:

Step 3: A Header and Footer dialog box will open.

Step 4: Check the box of Date and Time.

Step 5: Then click on update automatically.

Step 6: Select your date and time format as your requirement.

Step 7: Now if you want to add date and time only on one page (i.e. current page) then click on Apply option or if you want to add date and time in all the slides then click on Apply all option.

Finally, the date and time are added to your slides.
