The following interview is an Off-campus selection for HARMAN International for Bangalore Location.

Apply Method: I applied through Linkedin.

Let’s Begin the Journey. Are you ready? This is how it started for me…

Round 1: Aptitude [ 40 Min- Timeline ]: The first round comprised 50 MCQ questions for 40 min timeline. [ You have to answer any two programming languages question i.e including C, C++, Kotlin,  and Java output questions. [I had selected KOTLIN and JAVA]

My Suggestion :

DO’s :

  1. Select only that language in which you have confidence.
  2. I would suggest doing practice from sites like GeeksforGeeks and CodeChef for programming and other learning DSA Topics.

DON’T: Don’t try to be cool/show off by selecting a skill that is not there in your resume and trying to score well in that. [Basically don’t try to show adapt-ability skill here]

My Verdict: I cleared this round.

Round 2: Coding Round With MCQ [ 2HR 15 MIN ]

  • This round consists of 10 MCQ questions and 2 Coding Questions.
  • The difficulty level of problems will be easy-medium and medium stating that no repeated or easily previous questions are seen on the online test. You will have to apply your brain and solve the problem.

My Suggestion :

DO’s:

  1. I would suggest all freshers and experienced people from 0 to 5 years learn from GeeksforGeeks and apply on leetcode, CodeChef, and HackerEarth platform as well. If you want to do company-specific wise problems then do use geeksforgeeks is best but for me, I wanted to try contest so I followed these as mentioned above platforms.
  2. You should select the language you know best because you don’t want to be stuck in syntactical errors during code submission.
  3. Finish the MCQ question in the first 15 min and don’t waste any time further on the MCQ as you will need time in solving the coding problems. ( Don’t keep it for the last 15 min as you will be too occupied in the problem solving)

DON’T:

  1. Don’t panic, don’t assume things: If any doubt you get while solving the problems, you can ask the concerned person in the room for clarification. But don’t assume any logic or solution while trying to solve the problems because this coding test will have a very tricky question but very easy solutions with difficult edges.
  2. Always use pen and paper: Try to come up with the solution on paper and do write at least 10 test cases of your considering edges as well as using the given constraints of the problem.

My Verdict: I cleared this round.

Round 3: Technical Round – 1 [ 30 Min – Timeline]: This round consisted of more questions on Basics JAVA and KOTLIN with rapid-fire questions.[Don’t expect to have even a single min break within each question asked]

My Suggestion :

DO’s:

  1. For all questions, take time to think for 10-15 sec max to answer it or call it out if you don’t know.
  2. Try to explain all the answers with real-time examples or with instances of your project if it exists.

DON’T:

  1. Don’t hurry to answer any questions.[so that you don’t fumble while speaking or is not clear or expressive to the person in front of you.]
  2. Don’t create on-the-spot  examples for any answer if you are  not aware because the interviewer will go deep into it and will catch you red-handed and believe me, your verdict is decided right there]
  3. Don’t get too much excited or try to correct the interviewer if he/she is wrong. There is a way of highlighting your viewpoint to certain arguments which will vary with the interviewer but don’t get too cocky or bossy with your answer.

My Verdict: I cleared this round

Round 3: Technical Round -2 [ 45-60 Min – Timeline]:

  • This round will consist of questions on domain knowledge regarding the android application development starting from basic to advance concepts. It will consist of tech talk or rather tech discussion on the latest trends in technology used to develop applications for mobile to check your thought process.
  • There will be one-two scenario-based discussion question that tests your approach to feature development, testing, and maintenance of a task.

( HERE no DO’s and DON”t  )

My Verdict: I cleared this round.[Expect some pure domain knowledge questions here to test your real ability to develop apps]

(Yes this is yet not over, so hang on buddy, we are yet to go to the final rounds. STAY POSITIVE )

Round 4: Managerial Discussion [20 Min – Timeline]

  • This round will consist of talking about very basic approaches to problem-solving and using new tools.
  • It can also vary to some basic trick questions on maths problems or domain knowledge depending on the interviewer.

My Suggestion :

DO’s:

  1. Do become experts in your basic domain knowledge as you cannot afford to go wrong here.
  2. Do some math problems like patterns or star problems.

DON’T:

  1. Don’t try to show off here. Be reasonable while answering and have a good smile on your face throughout this round.
  2. Be polite while answering any questions or sharing any information.

Final Verdict: Yes… You are right. I made it… In 10 Days, I got my offer letter and I got my joining date in the next week.

Thank you for reading and sharing with me.
