Groupon is an American worldwide e-commerce marketplace connecting subscribers with local merchants by offering activities, travel, goods, and services in more than 28 countries. Based in Chicago, Groupon was launched in November 2008, and the first market for Groupon was Chicago, followed soon after that by Boston, New York City, and Toronto. Each day the Company e-mails its subscribers discounted offers for goods and services targeted by location and personal preferences. Consumers also access its deals directly through its Websites and mobile applications. By the end of March 2015, Groupon served more than 500 cities worldwide, nearly 48.1 million active customers, and featured more than 425,000 active deals globally.

In 2017, Groupon was placed at position #704 on Fortune 500 list. Also in 2012, Groupon was placed at position #1948 in Forbes’ list of the world’s biggest companies. In 2015, Groupon was recognized as a top mobile company by internet retailers.

Recruitment Process:

Groupon conducts 5-7 rounds to select freshers as Software Development Engineers in their organization.

Academic Criteria:

  • 70 percent or above in B.Tech, Class X and XII.
  • No backlogs at the time of the interview

Online Round:

An online round consists of two major sections namely the technical ability test and the coding section. To clear this round you must be prepared with Java, Data Structures, and algorithms.

Technical Rounds:

The students who clear the written round are called for a Technical Interview. Technical rounds 1 and 2 are generally conducted on Skype and the rest are face-to-face rounds. To clear this round you should be clear with your basics. You should be prepared with Data structures and Algorithms, DBMS, Operating Systems, and OOP concepts. You could also be expected to explain system architectures/designs such as building an e-commerce, class design, or parking system design with edge cases. Students will be expected to write codes in the interview. They also ask questions about resumes. You may be asked puzzles in this round.

HR Round:

You can expect general HR questions like :

  2. Why Groupnon?
  3. Any challenge or initiative that you took during school, college, or office.
  4. How do you see yourself after five years from now?
