Explanation: Let the number be N,

2 / 7 of a number is 12
(2 / 7) * N = 12 
N = 42

Quantity A: 3 / 8 of the number:
(3 / 8) * 42 = 15.75

Quantity B: 25% of the number:
(1 / 4) * 42 = 10.5 

So, quantity A is greater than quantity B.

Option (A) is correct.
