Goldman Sachs Interview Experience for Operations Profile Internship (On-Campus)

Goldman Sachs came to our college in the last week of October 2020. The recruitment process consisted of mainly 3 rounds:

• Aptitude Test
• Round 1 Interview
• Round 2 Interview

Aptitude Test (75 minutes MCQ): It mainly consisted of questions from Verbal Ability(20 questions), Quantitative Aptitude(20 questions), and Advanced Analytical Skills(30 questions).

The level of the questions was easy to moderate for Verbal Ability and Quantitative Aptitude however though the difficulty of Advanced Analytical Skills was moderate. The key factor to qualify this round was time management. This round was of 75 minutes duration and we can toggle between the questions as well the sections with no restrictions. Also, do focus more on Data Interpretation in Advanced Analytical Skills as other questions were easy as compared to it.

After this round 58 candidates were shortlisted for the Interview Rounds.

Round 1 Interview (30 minutes): It was a behavioral interview. All the questions were either based on Resume or your past experiences in Team management along with the difficulties you have faced throughout the duration of your course and how you overcame it. I guess one can prepare for this interview by going through a good amount of HR questions and knowing how to approach the question.

Some questions that I was asked about were,

1. Introduce yourself/ Walk me through your Resume.
2. Why do you want to switch to Operations Domain being from Electronics Background?
3. Tell me about the most difficult decision you had to make in life and how did it go?
4. Why Goldman Sachs? Why Operations?
5. What are the skills that you have that make you suitable for this domain?

I have been an active member of the marketing team in my college fests which helped me give answers to questions taking references from certain situations that I had faced in the past. At last, 32 candidates were shortlisted for Round 2 of the interviews.

Round 2 Interview (30 minutes): This round of interviews was more based on my Resume. The projects that I have done along with some other situation based questions. I would suggest being confident about what you have achieved over the last few years in the college (more focused on extra-curricular activities). Research about Goldman Sachs before going to each interview session and prepare some wonderful questions to ask the interviewers as it tells them about how much goal-oriented you are. Finally, the list of final shortlists was out consisting of 15 candidates who were offered an internship position at Goldman Sachs. Fortunately, I was one of them.

Tips: For Aptitude practice, Quant and Verbal Ability from R.S. Aggrawal, and For Data Interpretation try some CAT level questions which will make the questions appearing in the test easy for you to solve.

For both rounds of interviews prepare yourself to be confident, be thorough with your resume, and show commitment towards the work you have done along with highlighting the points that you think separates you from the crowd.
