There are 3 red socks, 5 green socks and 3 blue socks. You choose 2 socks. The probability that they are of the same color is
(A) 1/5
(B) 7/30
(C) 1/4
(D) 16/55

Answer: (D)

Explanation:

Ways to collect both Red = 3C2
Ways to collect both Green = 3C2
Ways to collect both Blue = 5C2

Total Ways = 11C2

P(Socks of Same Colour) = (3C2 + 5C2+ 3C2 ) /  11C2

= 16/55
