“Fill in the Blanks” is one of the most scoring topics in Bank PO exams. Following are some of the important rules while attempting the questions related to this topic:

1. Read the given sentence carefully and try to find the best alternative out of the given options.

2. While reading the sentence, try to ascertain which topic of Grammar the question belongs to, e.g., preposition, conjunction, tense, articles, idioms and phrases, vocabulary, etc.

3. Think logically and understand the crux of the sentence.

4. Follow all the applicable grammar rules and try to figure out the pattern of the sentence structure.

5. In case of multiple blanks in a sentence, ensure that the words chosen for both the blanks are related and give meaning to the sentence.

6. Remember to practice as much as possible, e.g., vocabulary (synonyms, antonyms, idioms and phrases, etc.), tenses, etc. This will give you a strong grip over this section of bank PO exams.

7. If you are still not able to find out the best alternative, use the ‘Hit & Trial method’. Try to fit each option one by one in the sentence and read the complete sentence to check if it gives the perfect meaning.

8. Last but not least, read the complete sentence again after choosing the best option to ascertain if the sentence is meaningful.
