Disciples         Important Fact                           
Sariputra This was a Brahmin by caste. 
He was a resident of Rajgriha.
It had died during the lifetime of Mahatma Buddha. 
Mahatma Buddha had said about Sariputra that “The chakra operated by me, the Anupam Dharam Chakra is being followed by the unborn Sariputra of Tathagata.”
Ananda This was the personal body attendant and ultimate disciple of Mahatma Buddha.
He was possibly a cousin of Mahatma Buddha. 
Its main contribution was to make women nuns members of the Sangha.
Modgalyan This disciple of Mahatma Buddha was a resident of Rajgriha. 
He was initiated into the Buddhism of Sariputra.
It also died during the lifetime of Mahatma Buddha.
Upali This was the son of Napit.
His father used to work as a barber in the Shakya clan.
Sunit This was a Bhangi by caste. 
This too was a favourite disciple of Mahatma Buddha.
Anrudha This was the son of a wealthy merchant.
Anath Pindak This was the famous Shresthi of Shravasti. 
It had purchased Jetavan Vihar from Chetkumar and provided it to Mahatma Buddha.
Bimbisara He was the ruler of Magadha. 
His wife had become a bhikkhuni.
Ajatashatru This was the son of Bimbisara and the ruler of Magadha. 
This Mahatma had become the most beloved disciple of Buddha.
Jivaka  This was also a favorite disciple of Buddha.
Its knowledge of Ayurveda was of a very high order. 
His mother’s name was Salavati, who was the courtesan of Rajagriha.
Jivaka had obtained his early education from Taxila.
Mahakas He was born in the royal family of Magadha. 
He became the chairman of the first Buddhist council.
Mahaprajapati Gautami She was the wife of Maharaja Suddhodana and aunt of Mahatma Buddha. 
At the behest of his disciple Ananda, the Buddha decided to initiate him into the Sangha.
She was the first woman to enter the Buddhist Sangha
Yasodhara This Mahatma was the wife of Buddha.
He took Pravrajya and followed the rules of the Sangh.
Nanda She was the daughter of Mahaprajapati Gautami and cousin of Mahatma Buddha. 
He too had received initiation from Buddha.
Khema She was the wife of Maharaja Bimbisara. 
She too had deepened his meditation.
Amrapali This was the courtesan of Vaishali city.
He also received the initiation of Buddhism from Mahatma Buddha.
Visakha This was the daughter of Shresthi of Anga Janpad. 
He built Purvaram Vihar at Shravasti. 
Mahatma Buddha often rested in this vihara. 
Later Visakha became the patroness of Buddhism.
