Duration toMillis() method in Java with Examples

The toMillis() method of Duration Class in java.time package is used get the value of this duration in number of milli-seconds.

Syntax:

public long toMillis()

Parameters: This method do not accepts any parameter.

Return Value: This method returns a long value which is the number of milli-seconds in this duration.

Below examples illustrate the Duration.toMillis() method:



Example 1:




// Java code to illustrate toMillis() method
  
import java.time.Duration;
  
public class GFG {
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {
  
        // Duration using parse() method
        Duration duration
            = Duration.parse("P2DT3H4M");
  
        System.out.println("Duration: "
                           + duration);
  
        // Get the number of milli-seconds
        // using toMillis() method
        System.out.println(duration.toMillis());
    }
}
Output:
Duration: PT51H4M
183840000

Example 2:




// Java code to illustrate toMillis() method
  
import java.time.Duration;
  
public class GFG {
    public static void main(String[] args)
    {
  
        // Duration using ofMillis() method
        Duration duration
            = Duration.ofMillis(10);
  
        System.out.println("Duration: "
                           + duration);
  
        // Get the number of milli-seconds
        // using toMillis() method
        System.out.println(duration.toMillis());
    }
}
Output:
Duration: PT0.01S
10
