Training, Development, and Education are different from each other. Training focuses on developing the skills, which are already possessed by an employee; development focuses on developing hidden qualities and talents of employees; and education focuses on increasing the knowledge and understanding of the employees.

Difference between Training, Development and Education

 

What is Training?

The process of increasing the knowledge, skills, and abilities of employees for doing work is known as Training. It is a process by which attitudes, skills, and capabilities to do a particular job are increased. It is a process of learning new skills and applying knowledge. Its main aim is to improve the performance of the current job and prepare them for any future job. Training enhances productivity and reduces accidents and wastage of resources. It also helps to increase the morale and satisfaction of the employees. 

What is Development?

Development refers to the overall growth of the employees. These are learning opportunities that are designed for employees to grow. These include not only those activities which help to improve employees’ performance but also help in employees’ growth. 

What is Education?

The process by means of which, knowledge, learning, understanding, physical capacity, and mental outlook of the employees are improved in order to bring about their better adjustments to the working environment is known as Education. It develops a logical and rational mind, which helps in the determination of relationships between significant variables. Quality of mind and the ability to understand basic principles are achieved with the help of education.

Orientation It is job-oriented. It is career-oriented. It is knowledge-oriented.
Scope It has a narrow scope. It has a broader scope. It has a broader scope than training.
Beneficial It is beneficial to achieve the objectives of organisations. It is beneficial to achieve the objectives of both organisations and individuals. It is beneficial for achieving the goals of individuals.
