Difference between Project Engineer and Field Engineer

1. Project Engineer :
Project Engineer, as name suggest, is simply a person or engineer who is professional and oversee all technical staff working on particular projects within company and makes sure that projects are completed on schedule.

2. Field Engineer :
Field Engineer, as name suggests, is simply a person or employee who is responsible and works at job sites such as construction sites, factories, etc. rather than office.

Difference between Project Engineer and Field Engineer :

Project Engineer	Field Engineer
It mainly focuses on providing support to project managers.	It mainly focuses on providing support to superintendent on site.
Skills required for project engineer includes great organizational skills, ability to work within budget and on given time period, time management ability, etc.	Skills required for field engineer includes good communication skills, time management skills, problem solving skills, etc.
Their responsibilities includes maintain safety, fulfill legal requirements, maintain safe and clean working environment, etc.	Their responsibilities includes timely maintenance, equipment checkups, work with other departments, inspecting and installing new equipment’s, etc.
Factors affecting project engineer performance includes lack of technical knowledge, poor maintenance skills, time complexity, etc.	Factors affecting field engineer includes weak multitasking abilities, no versatility, poor task management skills, etc.
Its process include handling, maintaining, managing, monitoring or checking, installing and giving support to network hardware and software.	Its process include inspecting and installing equipment’s, directing crews or workers, doing research, reporting on project status, etc.
Its main objective is to make sure that each and everything works smoothly and effectively as well as engineering designs are followed.	Its main objective is to solve issues and problems with equipment or systems.
Its benefit includes increase safety, improve team performance, identify and solve problems, reduce cost and time, etc.	Its benefit includes reduction in risk of schedule, improve team strength, identify risk and minimize amount of down time suffered, etc.
Project engineer tasks are more difficult than Field Engineer tasks.	Field Engineer tasks are less difficult than project engineer tasks.
It cannot handle role of Field Engineer.	Its role is limited and therefore cannot handle role of project engineer.
