Difference between Project Engineer and Civil Engineer

1. Project Engineer :
Project Engineer, as name suggest, is simply a person or engineer who is professional and manage both engineering and technical projects and are given direct control over human resources that are involved in project.

2. Civil Engineer :
Civil Engineer, as name suggests, is simply a person or employee who is responsible for overseeing construction of public works such as bridge, roads, buildings, etc. and deals with design, construction and maintenance of environment.



Difference between Project Engineer and Civil Engineer :

It mainly focuses on maintaining and completing project. It mainly focuses on construction projects.
Skills required for project engineer includes safety improvement, risk assessment, requirement analysis, design skills, etc. Skills required for civil engineer includes problem solving skills, ability to work to deadlines and within budgets, ability to manage projects, etc.
Their responsibilities includes determining project specifications, maintaining project schedule, maintaining and controlling cost, etc. Their responsibilities includes creating, improving and protecting immediate environment, design and oversee construction, etc.
Factors affecting project engineer performance includes poor manufacturing methods and procedures, poor documentation skills, no managerial skills, lack of initiative, etc. Factors affecting civil engineer performance includes lack of technical knowledge, delay in making payment, environment uncertainty, etc.
Its process include maintaining, monitoring, coordinating, resolving problems, and finally completing assigned projects. Its process include planning, managing, designing, developing, creating and maintaining all construction projects.
Its main objective is to develop efficient methods and practices to complete engineering and technical projects. Its main objective is to solve issues and problems with equipment or systems.
Its benefit includes increase safety, reduce time spent on working, identify and solve problems, control and maintain performance, etc. Its benefit includes reduction in risk of schedule, develop community, protect environment, etc.
Project engineer tasks are less difficult than Civil Engineer tasks. Civil Engineer tasks are more difficult than Project Engineer tasks.
It cannot handle role of Civil Engineer. Its role is limited and therefore cannot handle role of project engineer.
