Difference between POS and EPOS

1. Point of Sale (POS) :
Point of Sale (POS), as name suggest, is system where exchange or goods or services takes place manually. It includes both combination of hardware and software.

2. Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS) :
Electronic Point of Sale (EPOS), as name suggests, is a software system that performs all business tasks such as checkouts, payments, handling accounts, inventory management, etc.

Difference between POS and EPOS :

POS systems generally include manual operations such as reconcile accounts i.e. process that compares two sets of records to check that figures are correct and in agreement. In simple words one manually checks and handle all account related operations without any need of electronic system.	EPOS system is electronic system that is generally used to reconcile accounts.
It also process orders and manage all inventories (stock of goods and material of company or organization) manually.	It also process orders and manage all inventories but with help of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System.
POS usually operates offline without any requirement of internet.	EPOS usually operates online with help of internet.
It is less secure than EPOS.	It is more secure than POS.
POS system only accept cash payments or payments made by credit or debit cards.	EPOS system not only accept cash payment or payments made credit or debit cards, but also accept online payments and contactless payments.
POS system is less flexible than EPOS.	EPOS system is more flexible than POS.
POS system includes costly and bulky hardware.	EPOS system does not include costly and bulky hardware and therefore reduces maintenance costs also.
Any issues or problem that occur will not be solved rapidly.	Any issues or problem that arises get solved rapidly.
POS is easy to implement but not user friendly.	EPOS system is very easy, easy to implement and user friendly also.
POS is not widely used.	EPOS is widely used technology nowadays.
