Prerequisite – Types of SEO

1. Local SEO

Local SEO (Local Search Engine Optimization) refers to SEO which is localized to a specific geographical area. It has a specific geographical component on which it does business. The target of Local Search Engine Optimization is to get into the local listing packs. Local searchers are from people who are actively looking for particular products or services at a specific location. For example a person at Noida looking for best hotels to stay and he/she searched “Best hotel to stay at Noida” in google, so the results will show a number of hotels of Noida location and nearer to that location.

Advantages of Local SEO:

  • Targets local customers in a specific geographical area
  • Helps businesses establish a strong online presence in their local market
  • Increases visibility in local search engine results pages (SERPs)
  • Can result in higher conversion rates as customers are more likely to visit a local business
  • Can be more cost-effective than organic SEO as it targets a smaller audience

Disadvantages of Local SEO:

  • Limited to a specific geographical area, which may limit the potential customer base
  • Requires a physical location for the business, which may not be applicable for all types of businesses
  • Can be more competitive, especially for businesses in densely populated areas
  • May require ongoing efforts to maintain local SEO ranking, as search engine algorithms and local competitors may change

2. Organic SEO

Organic SEO (Organic Search Engine Optimization) refers to SEO which grows and expands quickly over time like an organism. It does not necessarily have a specific geographical component on which it does business. The target of Organic Search Engine Optimization is to rank as high as it can for a specific set of keywords. Organic SEO is improved when people get the required information from the respective websites, articles, blogs etc.

For example a person just searched “Best places to travel/visit”, here best places of the state, country and may be the best places of the whole world will be displayed as the search is not specific to a particular location.

Advantages of Organic SEO:

  • Targets a wider audience, regardless of location or demographics
  • Can increase brand awareness and credibility
  • Can result in higher traffic and leads to the website
  • Can provide long-term benefits as organic ranking takes longer to achieve but can be more sustainable.

Disadvantages of Organic SEO:

  • Can be more competitive, especially for popular keywords and industries
  • Requires ongoing effort and investment to maintain and improve ranking
  • Results may take longer to achieve compared to local SEO
  • Requires a broader understanding of SEO strategies and techniques

Similarities between Local SEO and Organic SEO:

  • Both aim to increase website visibility and ranking in search engine results pages (SERPs)
