An interconnection of multiple devices, also known as hosts, that are connected using multiple paths for the purpose of sending/receiving data or media. Computer networks can also include multiple devices/mediums which help in the communication between two different devices; these are known as Network devices and include things such as routers, switches, hubs, and bridges. Many of the users in the home and in small businesses use the internet via dial-up connection and broadband connection.

Dialup connection:

In dialup connection, the services connect to the internet through a phone line connection. It is established between two or more communication devices in which it uses Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) to connect to the internet. It has a data transfer rate (DTR) up to 56kbps.

Advantages of Dial-up Connection:

  • It is less expensive.
  • It is easily available anywhere to everyone.
  • It is very easy to set up.

Disadvantages of Dial-up Connection:

  • It has slow data transfer rate.
  • It is less reliable than a broadband connection.
  • It has a slow speed.
  • It cannot control the quality of the connection.

Broadband:

It is a high-speed connection that allows using the telephone and internet simultaneously. In this, the data can be transferred in various forms via cable, satellite, and telephone.

Advantages of Broadband Connection:

  • It has a higher speed which is used for downloading large-size files, videos, games, and music.
  • It is faster than dialup connection.
  • It is more reliable than dialup connection.
  • It has no interruptions while using the internet.

Disadvantages of Broadband Connection:

  • It is more expensive.
  • It has security threats and issues.
  • It is not available in remote and rural areas.

Difference between Dialup Connection and Broadband Connection:
