Difference between Android 1.0 and Android 1.6

1. Android 1.0 :

Android 1.0 is the very first version of Android which was introduced by Google. It had some basic features including web browser support, camera support, Gmail counts, Google maps, and a Youtube application. Although it does not have the official version name like further introduces versions unofficially it is called Apple Pie. The API level in Android 1.0 version is 1. It is not used anymore in mobile devices. It was released on 23 September 2008. 

Features of Android 1.0:

• Home screen: The home screen on Android 1.0 featured a grid layout with a few customizable options.
• App drawer: The app drawer on Android 1.0 was a simple list of installed applications.
• Dialer and contacts: Android 1.0 had a basic dialer and contacts application.
• Web browser: The web browser on Android 1.0 was based on WebKit.
• Email: Android 1.0 had a basic email client with support for POP3 and IMAP email accounts.

2. Android 1.6 :

 Android 1.6 is next version of Android after Android 1.5 which was introduced by Google. It had all the features that were included in the previous versions i.e. Android 1.0, Android 1.1 and Android 1.5 and some extra features were added in this version too. Features like gesture framework and turn-by-turn navigation was added in this version. This version had a version name. It is called Donut. The API level in Android 1.6 is 4. It was released on 15 September 2009. 

Features of Android 1.6:

• Home screen: The home screen on Android 1.6 introduced a new “Donut” theme with a more polished design and more customizable options.
• App drawer: The app drawer on Android 1.6 was organized by category, making it easier to find and access installed applications.
• Dialer and contacts: Android 1.6 had an improved dialer and contacts application with new features such as visual voicemail.
• Web browser: The web browser on Android 1.6 had improved performance and support for HTML5.
• Voice search: Android 1.6 introduced voice search, which allowed users to search the web and their phone using voice commands.

Similarities between Android 1.0 and Android 1.6:

• Both versions of Android had a notification system, which displayed notifications in the status bar.
• Both versions of Android had a built-in camera application.
• Both versions of Android supported multi-tasking, allowing users to run multiple applications at the same time.
• Both versions of Android had support for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
• Both versions of Android had support for third-party applications from the Android Market (now called the Google Play Store) or other app stores.

Difference between Android 1.0 and Android 1.6 :
