Hello everyone! This article is related to my interview experience with Deloitte USI.

Deloitte visited our campus on August 17, 2021, for campus placement for the role of Analyst.

Notification date: August 13, 2021

Shortlisting Criteria:

  • No active backlogs.
  • Aggregate 60% or CGPA of 6.5 and above. (All branches allowed)
  • This drive was not for the internship.

A total of 272 students were eligible from our institute.

Round 1(Aptitude Test): DATE -> August 17, 2021

The test was conducted on the AMCAT platform. Remember, this platform does not allow you to toggle the question. (You can not change the option if answered and submitted, also you are not allowed to go on the previous question again.

Sections :  This test is divided into three parts

  1. Verbal -> 25 Questions, 25 min
  2. Logical Reasoning  ->  25 questions , 35 min
  3. Quantitative Aptitude  -> 25 questions , 35 min

Tips:

  • This is a pretty easy round but, make sure you have good speed with higher accuracy.
  • To practice aptitude, I suggest going on INDIABIX and attempting, mock tests on each section ( i.e. verbal, logical, quant).
  • Track your progress thoroughly means how much time you are taking to solve the question, what is your accuracy. Initially, your speed and accuracy may not be very good but, by practice, you will have both 🙂
  • After round 1, a total of 104 students was selected for the next round.

Round 2(Technical + HR):   DATE-> August 19, 2021

Tips:

  1. Be honest with your resume. Write only those skills you are comfortable with.
  2. Be strict with the timeline given to you for the interview.
  3. Prepare a short and concise introduction of yourself.
  4. Drink more and more water as it reduces negative energy.(before the interview)
  5. Be calm while answering questions. You can take a pause before start answering a question to structure your answer.
  6. If you are not able to answer any questions during the interview, then don’t be nervous it is very natural. Handle this situation carefully like you can say “Sir as of now I am not aware of this technology, but I will definitely learn this”. This is one of the possible answers.
  7. Prepare a smart question for the interviewer.

What to study for interview: See, there is no perfect answer to this question, but here are some tips that will be helpful.

  1. Go through the resume. Prepare each and every term written in it. Pay special heed to skills, projects, and internships sections. Try to make cross-questions from these sections and prepare them well.
  2. Prepare some HR questions like “Why do you want to join this company?”. There are lots of material available for HR questions.
  3. If you are from a non-cse background then there are fair chances that they will ask the following question “As you are not from a CSE background then why do you want to join IT company”. Believe me, this is the smartest question that can be asked from a candidate, and if you tackle it very well then, it will be a positive impression on the interviewer.
  4. Prepare OOPs concepts and try to relate them with real-life examples.
  5. Prepare database management system (DBMS
  6. Also, prepare some basic programs like the number is palindrome or not, Armstrong number, find missing element in a sorted array, the sum of cube of n natural numbers, etc. Also, practice writing these programs in your preferred language. They may ask you to write a program on a notepad or any code editor while screen sharing is on.
  7. Puzzles may be asked of you in the interview. Link: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/puzzles/

My Interview Experience: The interview started with an introduction.

Questions asked were:

  1. Since you are from a non-cse background, then why do you want to join an IT company? and what are the technologies you know in the IT sector? (as I am from EE branch)
  2. What is SDLC?
  3. What is a superclass and what is a constructor?
  4. What is function overriding?
  5. What is a virtual function?
  6. What is pure virtual function?
  7. What is Abstract class?
  8. What is the primary key?
  9. Types of Joins.
  10. Explain the Having clause.
  11. Write a program to check a number is a palindrome or not while screen share is on and I had to write the program on Notepad.
  12. What are your hobbies?
  13. Tell me one thing on which you are working currently.
  14. Do you have any questions for me?

The interview lasts around 18 minutes. (time may vary from person to person)

There was no JAM (Just A Minute) round, unlike last year.

After round 2, a total of 39 students were selected from our institute.

Verdict: Selected
