Dell Interview Experience for Software Engineer

Status: May 2020 Graduate, BS CS at a Catholic University.

Position: Software Engineer at Dell

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Date: April 2021

Currently, work at a tech company.

Applied on their career site and recruiter reached out to me. The interview process took about two weeks. Afterward, i received an offer.

Recruiter phone call:

  • Duration: 30 minutes.
  • Recruiter to learn more about me and why I am looking to leave my current company.
  • Casual conversation.
  • Did not ask for salary requirements nor anything. Just wanted to make sure i am in the Philadelphia location.
  • Scheduled my technical phone screen.

Technical phone screen:

  • Duration: 1 hour.
  • 1-hour interview with the team’s tech lead.
  • Behavioral questions, super cool guy.
  • Algorithm question – verbal.
  • Java OOP questions.

Onsite (3 Rounds):

Round 1: Technical Round

  • Duration: 1 hour.
  • Interviewed with 2 engineers, talked with the tech lead again. Super cool guy.
  • System design, design Spotify.
  • Verbal algorithm.
  • OOP Java.
  • All 3 of us felt the vibe and it was pretty casual.

Round 2: Technical Round

  • Duration: 1 hour.
  • Algorithm on word document. Simple algorithms.
  • Some database question about modeling.
  • SQL questions.
  • Java questions.

Round 3: Manager Round

  • Duration: 1hour.
  • Talked about the team and culture of the company.
  • Discussed about projects.
  • Some behavioral questions.

Result: Offer.
