People often get confused in choosing the right software so we will compare two famous photo editing and image manipulation software, Adobe Photoshop and CorelDraw. Both of these softwares are very advance and provide a large number of robust tools to ease designing tasks. Both of these are paid software, Adobe Photoshop is based on pixels while CorelDraw is a vector-based software.

What is CorelDraw?

CorelDraw is computer software which is used to edit and manipulate vector images which can later be exported in different file formats. Corel Corporation is credited for the development of CorelDraw. Initially, it was released in 1989 and its stable version was launched in 2022. It has different advanced image editing tools like Artistic media tool, shape tool, zoom tool, curve tool, free transform tool etc. It is available for Windows as well as for Mac operating systems. It is a popular software which is used by freelancers and industries also for a variety of purposes.

Advantages of CorelDraw

  • It has a simple and easy to use interface which is beginner-friendly.
  • It utilizes minimum memory and space resources of the system.
  • It is affordable as compared to other image editing software with these functionalities.
  • It converts images to vector graphics means these images can be scaled to high levels without losing quality.

Disadvantages of CorelDraw

  • It only works for vector images so pixel images need conversion to start editing.
  • It does not support 3d artwork.
  • As images are vector images so file size is big.

What is Photoshop?

Adobe Photoshop is a graphic editor which is used to create and edit different types of images and allows users to save them in different formats. Thomas and John Knoll is known as its author and the development credit for this software goes to Adobe Incorporation. Initially, it was released in 1990 and its stable version was launched in 2022. It comes with a large number of tools to create and edit images like shape tools, selection tools, clone stamp tools, pen tools etc.

Advantages of Adobe Photoshop

  • It is a professional photo editing software which helps in editing photos in an easy way.
  • Almost all the image formats are supported by this software.
  • It is available for various operating systems.
  • It provides a large number of templates to use.
  • It is an all-round software which produces high-quality images which are compatible with different platforms.

Disadvantages of Adobe Photoshop

  • Buying for a lifetime is not available, only monthly and a yearly subscription is available.
  • It is heavy software which requires a lot of memory and space on your system.

1. It can be defined as an image editing and manipulation software for vector graphics. It can be understood as a pixel-based image editing software which is used to create, edit and manipulate images.

3. It is built using C# and C++ programming languages. It is built using Pascal and C++ programming languages.
4. Its files are saved in CDR file format. Its files are saved in PSD or PSB formats.
5. It allows inserting bar code while editing images. It lacks a bar code inserting feature while editing images.
6. It allows creation of multiple pages with different components in a single file. It does not allow multi-pages functionality in a single file.
7. 3D object rendering feature is not available in CorelDraw. 3D object rendering is possible in Photoshop.
8. It is cheaper than Adobe Photoshop. It is expensive as compared to CorelDraw.
