We found many diseases which are caused by bacteria. Some common bacterial infections in humans are pneumonia, tuberculosis, tetanus, typhoid, etc. The bacteria responsible for various diseases in humans are called pathogenic bacteria. Not all bacteria cause diseases; some are helpful. They are part of our everyday life. When pathogenic bacteria enter the body, they make us ill. It can damage the body cells by releasing toxins or can initiate an immune response to damaged cells. 
Bacterial Diseases in Humans

Here is a list of diseases caused by bacteria with their causing agent:

  • Pulmonary Tuberculosis – Mycobacterium tuberculosis
  • Cholera – Vibrio cholerae
  • Diphtheria – Corynebacterium diphtheriae
  • Leprosy – Mycobacterium leprae
  • Tetanus – Clostridium tetani
  • Pertussis – Bordetella pertussis
  • Plague – Yersinia pestis
  • Syphilis – Treponema pallidum
  • Gonorrhoea – Neisseria gonorrhoeae
  • Salmonellosis – Salmonella enteritis

Some of The Common Bacterial Diseases:

A. Tuberculosis:

This is a severe infectious disease. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is responsible for causing tuberculosis. It can transfer through tiny droplets of air from one place to another. This disease started increasing in 1985. Coughing for three weeks, fever, night sweats, and loss of appetite are the main symptoms of this disease.

B. Cholera:

Cholera is also a severe bacterial disease in humans. It mainly transfers from the water. It can cause dehydration and diarrhea. You can prevent yourself from the Cholera by using water treatment.

C. Diphtheria:

Corynebacterium diphtheriae is the disease-causing agent of Diphtheria. This disease can affect the mucous membranes of the nose and throat. Moreover, Medications can help treat Diphtheria. But, if the condition is in a higher stage. It can affect the heart, nervous system, and kidneys.

D. Plague:

A Plague is also a disease caused by bacteria. Fleas can transmit it. In middle age, the Black Death is the name of the Plague. This disease takes a difficult phase. Only antibiotics can treat it. Yersinia pestis is the disease-causing agent of the Plague. Bubonic Plague, Septicemic Plague, and Pneumonic Plague are the three types of Plague.

E. Leprosy:

Mycobacterium leprae is responsible for the bacterial disease Leprosy. This is a rod-shaped bacillus. It can affect the respiratory tract’s peripheral nerves, skin, eyes, and mucosa. If this disease can not be treated in the starting stage, it creates disability in humans.

F. Tetanus:

Tetanus is also a bacterial disease that a toxin-producing bacterium can cause. It can affect the nervous system. Any person with tetanus faces muscle contractions in the jaw and neck muscles. That’s why this disease is also called lockjaw. Moreover, there is no cure for tetanus. Its treatment focuses on managing symptoms. Thus, if you find any signs, then visit the doctor.

G. Gonorrhea:

Sexually transmitted bacteria can cause gonorrhea disease. It can affect both males and females. Gonorrhea can infect the urethra, throat, or rectum of humans. Also, the cervix can be involved in females. Painful urination and vaginal discharge are some causes of the disease.

Causes of Bacterial Disease:

There are various sources by which bacteria enter the human body. Bacterial diseases are infectious diseases. They can be transmitted from one person to another by air, food, water, or direct contact. Some sources of disease caused by bacteria are:-

  • Sharing food and water.
  • Contaminated needles or infected surgical equipment.
  • Infectious feces.
  • Bitten by an infected insect
  • Use of drugs
  • By the eyes, ears, or urethra. 
  • Infected body fluids. 
  • Symptoms of Bacterial Disease

There are Symptoms of Bacterial Disease in Humans:

  • Vomiting and nausea
  • Bloody and painful urine
  • Irritability
  • Diarrhea
  • Rashes and lesions
  • Weakness
  • Stiffness in neck
  • Flu-like symptoms

Some Severe Symptoms that can Indicate a Life-Threatening Condition:

  • Confusion 
  • Wet chest cough. They produce yellow or brownish phlegm.
  • Difficulty in breathing
  • High fever (higher than 101 degrees)
  • Inappropriate change in alertness 
  • Unresponsiveness

It is essential to understand that bacterial diseases are infectious. They can be transmitted from the air, water, and food. Thus, being mindful and keeping prevention tips in mind is very helpful. It should be noted that these diseases are one of the leading causes of death in humans. So, we need to understand the depth of the matter.
