Cognizant Hexaware Interview Experience SpeechX test

I applied for both Cognizant and Hexaware on campus. And also cleared the communication round for both of them. Both of them had an initial written test round and then the communication round which was the speechX test.

The speechx test is a part of companies like Cognizant, Hexaware, etc. For Hexaware, it is an elimination round and most of the people get eliminated here. In the case of cognizant, it’s not elimination but it’s an undividable round for their hiring process. This AI-based test is conducted on the mettl platform and it checks vocabulary, pronunciation, and fluency in speaking. There are different sub-parts of the test.

Listening: Here they will give you an audio clip and tell you to repeat it in a given time interval or they will give some MCQ questions based on the audio. You can change the pace of the audio but can’t play the audio more than one time. So, you must be very focused while playing the audio.

Reading: Here they will give you a sentence and ask you to read it out in a given time interval. They mostly check the pronunciation here.

Grammatical skill: Here they will give you some very basic grammatical questions. For example, they may ask you to fill in the blank with the proper tense of the given verb or they ask you to change active voice to passive voice, etc.

Speech Test: It’s the most difficult part of the test. Here you have to give a one-minute speech about the topic they will give you. For example, they will ask you to tell something about your dream house or your favorite cartoon from childhood. They will give some points upon which you have to create the speech. For example, if they ask you to tell something about your favorite cartoon the key points will be like ‘what is the cartoon?’ , ‘why was it your favorite ?’, ‘Some memorable moments about it, etc.  They will give you 30 seconds to think about your speech and after that, you will have to record your speech.

Note: Make sure you are in a very quiet place. And speak clearly. You should use good-quality headphones or earphones. And before starting the test check your headphones or earphones. 

After this round Cognizant has only one TR round, and Hexaware has one TR and one HR round.
