For BCA and BSC-IT Graduates, there are mainly 4 Rounds.

Online Test> Technical Interview round >Document Verification > HR Interview round

ROUND1: COGNIZANT ASSESSMENT/ONLINE TEST: It was an Aptitude Round that was held on the Amcat Platform. It consists of 2 sections below –

  • Quantitative ( 25 Questions)
  • Logical Reasoning (25 Questions)

The total session was about 120min. There was no negative marking and also answering all the questions was mandatory.

Based on your performance you will get qualify for the next round.

So, in my case, I had cleared the first round and got selected for the next round i.e. Interview Round. For that, I received a confirmation mail and hall ticket from the Hiring Team for an interview for the post of Programmer Trainee. My Interview was scheduled after 2 weeks of the Online test.

ROUND2: TECHNICAL INTERVIEW: This round was held at the Cognizant campus. This session was approximately 35-40min. So my name was called and the interviewer told me to sit. He started taking the Technical round from the very basic and common question which is ” Tell me about yourself”.

Then he asked various questions listed below:

  • Tell me something about your Project which you have done in College
  • What is your role in your Project? Can you tell me in brief (My role was Designing the form of a web application using HTML and CSS)
  • Based on the role in the project, he asked me few questions after giving me pen and paper: how you can create a home page and web form where users can input and submit their information? Can you roughly design the home page and elaborate? Difference between static and Dynamic Websites.
  • What are the security features you have implemented in your project and how to protect your web application from security threats?
  • What is the full form of CSS?
  • What is MySQL
  • What is Database
  • How do you create a database in MySQL? Write the query for it.
  • How do you create a table in MySQL? Write the query for it.
  • Difference between deleting and Truncate
  • What are OOPs? Tell me some features
  • What is the difference between C and C++
  • He then asked me for some basic programs to write code in any language, dry run it, and explain the logic. There were 3 questions:
    • First question – Program to Swap 2 numbers with or without third variables.
    • Second question – Factorial of a number.
    • Third question – Check whether a given number is Prime or not. I have written all the codes on paper and explained them to him.

As this Round went well. So, I was hoping for the next round. Then Interviewer told me to wait for a few min. if I’ll qualify for this round then the verification team will call for the next round i.e. Document Verification Round.

And luckily my name was called just after 5 min 🙂

ROUND3: DOCUMENT VERIFICATION: This round was about 5-10min only. The verification team has checked my documents (Original + Xerox) and kept all the Xerox copies. It consists of the following documents listed below: –

  • 10th Marksheet
  • 12th Marksheet
  • Graduation Marksheet (All Semester)
  • Provisional Certificate
  • Degree Certificate ( For Pass Out Candidate)
  • PAN Card
  • AADHAR Card
  • Passport
  • Voter ID Card
  • Photo

Post Document Verification, I was called for HR Round

ROUND4: HR INTERVIEW: For me, this round happened only for 5-10 min. HR asked me a few questions listed below :

  • Tell me about yourself
  • Why Cognizant
  • Tell me your weakness
  • Are you able to work on any location
  • Are you comfortable with the shift?
  • Then at the end of the round, he asked me whether I had anything for him to ask.

So I just asked 1 or 2 questions: Where do I need to improve myself for an organization and any suggestion from your side regarding learning?

He suggested me few things related to Learning and it also worked for me. That’s all about the interview experience.

I was able to crack all the interview rounds successfully. I was so happy and It was one of my biggest achievements for me at that time.

Hope this helps you all to crack the interview. Have a nice day and Happy Learning. Good luck!
