Preparation Tips:

  1. CS Fundamentals should be clear. As Cisco is a Networking company, you should be thorough with the Networking subject very well.
  2. Go through the company’s website before appearing for the interview as you should know what the company is about, its values, and its products.
  3. Be clear about what the role is demanding. 
  4. Ask questions at the end of every round.
  5. Never write anything in your resume that you do not know. 

Round 1(Online Test – 1 hr): Consisted of around 25 MCQs ranging from topics like Networking, SQL, Python, Java, C/C++, and Aptitude. The majority of the questions were from Networking and Aptitude. One coding was there which was of medium level. 

Round 2(Technical Round – 30 to 40 mins): The technical round started with an introduction and was followed by many technical questions and scenario-based questions. 

  1. Do you know about the OSI model in networking? 
  2. Explain each layer of the OSI model. (Explained in detail about every layer and protocol)
  3. What is the difference between TCP and UDP?
  4. What is the difference between switch and hub?
  5. What is a router?
  6. What can be the reason for wifi to show No Internet while it is still connected?
  7. What can be the reason for the game appearing when you go offline on Google chrome?
  8. Nowadays, how is a small chip able to store so much data which was not possible earlier in large devices?
  9. Explain Kernel.
  10. Explain Binary Search in nontechnical language and then in technical language.
  11. What are the worst-case complexity and best-case complexity of binary search? What will be the situation when binary search will satisfy the best case?
  12. Are you aware of the Job Role?
  13. What technology are you working on in your present internship?
  14. Do you have any questions for me?

Round 3(Managerial Round – 30 to 40 mins): In this, they basically wanted to know about you more and your managerial skills. This round started with my introduction. I gave a detailed introduction about which projects I have worked on or currently working on, about my ongoing internship, about organizations and clubs where I have volunteered, and about my interests. You should be very thorough with everything you mention in your resume. Then he asked some questions like 

  1. Do you know about this role and the requirements?
  2. Why do you think this role suits you?
  3. What excites you about this role?
  4. Any questions for me?

In the end, I asked him how Cisco is bridging the gap between new joiners and older employees during this work-from-the-home scenario and how is the work culture of Cisco.

Round 4(HR Round – 15 mins):

  1. What do you understand about your role?
  2. Why do you want to join CISCO?
  3. What are Cisco products other than Webex?
  4. Who all are Cisco’s competitors?
  5. Are you comfortable relocating?
  6. Any questions for me?

Key Tips: Be very confident while answering questions.
