Cerebral Technologies visited our college to recruit freshers for the role of Associate software engineer. The whole recruitment process had 4 rounds. One of which was the short-listing round on the basis of Resumes, another was of online assessment, and 2 rounds of face-to-face interviews.

All the selection procedures were completely virtual and on mettl platform & MS Teams.

Round 1: The company provided a google-form to collect some basic details and resumes of all students. There was a clear differentiation for the profile to be selected and these contained:

 Data & Power-BI Engineer, Cloud  Engineer, Python Developer, Quality Analyst & 2 more.

The base criterion to fill the form was 70%in all previous school exams and a 7+ CGPA in the college. Almost 240+ students applied for the profile of which almost 180 got selected for the online assessment round.  

Round 2: Online assessment:(Technical): This round consisted of MCQ and coding questions divided into multiple sections:

  • Quantitative
  • Verbal reasoning
  • CS fundamentals

Coding: 

  • 1 easy DSA question.
  • 2 easy SQL queries. 
  • 1 medium DSA question
  • 1 Hard DSA question

Only 35 students cleared this round out of all. The selected candidates were given preference on the profile they selected so be clear about the role and Category to apply for.

Round 3: Technical Interview: This was an MS-TEAMS interview call. There were 5 different interviewers in the meeting with different subject expertise. I have selected the profile for Cloud Engineer. Other profile engineers had different experiences.

Some of the questions asked were:

  • Find the pivot element of the array given: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/search-an-element-in-a-sorted-and-pivoted-array/
  • Find the 2nd highest element in the array.
  • How does a hashmap work?
  • Count the occurrence of numbers in the array using a hashmap.
  • What is an object?
  • Differences between Runtime polymorphism & Compile-time polymorphism 
  • Encapsulation & how is it different from Abstraction
  • Diff bet. Virtual machine & Dual Boot in a PC
  • What are various algorithms in OS? Which is best and why?
  • Explain Round Robin algo.
  • What is time switching & Context switching?
  • What is virtual memory?
  • What is RDBMS
  • What is Normalization, and how many forms?
  • Write a simple query
  • What is Public & Private IP?
  • What is the function of the Router?
  • What are the different layers in OSI?
  • Which of them are pure hardware and which are pure software?

The total interview lasted for 75 minutes almost and I answered 90% of the questions asked. I was selected for further rounds. About 7 students were selected from here.

Round 4:  HR Interview: This was a small MS-Teams call for about 10 minutes. HR Asked mainly such questions:

  • Introduction
  • Family details
  • Extra hobbies & achievements
  • Preferred Job location

And that concluded shortly. All the candidates were selected after the HR Round.
