In excel Power view, the card visualization feature helps to display the table data in the form of pictorial representation. Every row of the table can be captured to form a series of data in Card Visualization. While we can also insert images to our card, the images added are data-bound. Card visualization provides two different card styles in Power BI: Card (single row), Multi row card

Example:

Consider the following data table for our example. It contains the date field, buyer name, type, and amount of the product purchased. Either directly create a file in excel and use Power Pivot or we can use Power BI desktop directly to create cards in excel.

Make a data table with field date, buyer, type, Amount

Step 1: Open the Power Bi desktop and click on “import data from excel“.

Open the Power Bi desktop and click on import data from excel.

Step 2: Select any excel file that has database and click on the sheet that contains the tables. Click on load and it will load all the rows of the table.

select sheet that contains table then it will load all the rows of the table.

Step 3: All the attributes(columns) of the table will be available in the fields section (right side). Here in “sheet 1” all the columns are displayed like amount, buyer, date, and type.

All the columns displayed in field section.

Step 4: Click on visualization group and from the available selection, click on “card”. Visualization is a group available in the right corner along with the filters and fields group.

Step 5: A blank card will appear in the panel window as shown in the image below:

Step 6: Drag all the columns that we want from the fields group to the card panel on the left-hand side.

Drag the column from field to card panel.

Step 7: Here we have selected sum(amount) from the fields group. Since we have a single-row card, only the single row with the total amount will be visible on the card.

Here selects sum from the fields group, then only single row with total amount is shown.

Step 8: To format the card, click on the “format your visual” icon available in the visual group.

To format the card, Go to visual group and click on format your visual.

Step 9: In the visual group, select the font type, size, color, and other specifications available in the “callout value” tab. We can the color and fonts will be changed accordingly.

From visual group we are changing the color and fonts.

Step 10: Now to make every row of the table appear in the card, go to the visualization and find “multi-row card”.

click on visualization and find multi row card.

Step 11: Drag and drop all the fields from the “fields” group to the card panel appearing in the left.

Drag and drop all the fields from the fields to the card panel

Step 12: The whole table data will be presented in the card format as shown below. The rows will form a series of snapshots for the card and all the series of rows aggregated together will form the complete table data.

whole table data will be presented in the card format

Step 13: Also, the date can be drilled up or down as per the requirement. here we will remove the date hierarchy by clicking on the “Date” drop-down and unchecking the “Date hierarchy”.
