BlackRock Interview Experience (On-Campus)

BlackRock visited VIT for campus placements in the month of August. I applied for a software role for which I had to attend 3 rounds of the selection process.

Eligibility Criteria: 6.0 CGPA and above, No Standing Arrears.

Round 1: Online Assessment About 1200 people were shortlisted for the Online test inclusive of all the roles that they were hiring for.

Test Platform : elitmus. 

It consisted of 3 sections : 

• Aptitude Section: This section consisted of several sub-sections like Logical Reasoning, verbal ability, etc. with different time limits for each of the sub-sections. 
• Programming Ability:  Data structures and questions related to predicting the output of the given program.
• SQL: SQL queries, syntaxes, and DBMS concepts were asked.

Round 2: Technical interview 120 people got shortlisted for a software role.

Interview Platform: MS Teams.

I was questioned about Data Science questions. There were 4 interviewers. One of the panelists discussed all the projects I mentioned in my resume while the others questioned me about Java and OOPS concepts.

• Questions based on the project that I did in my Hewlett-Packard Enterprise CTY program.  As I used Amazon OpenSearch Service, Logstash, and Docker, I was questioned about AWS IAM Roles and the configurations, AWS Lambda, REST API, Index State management policy and Multi-tenancy,
• What is Data pre-processing and why do we need it?
• What algorithm did I use in the machine learning project that I have mentioned in my resume and follow-up questions based on my answer?
• Explain encapsulation.
• Questions based on the project that I was doing under VIT-AP Incubation Center. As I used the PostgreSQL database, they asked me about the backend connections between Django and PostgreSQL and what is PostgreSQL. How do I query if there are multiple tables? Is it a Relational Database Management System? Why did I choose that particular technical stack?
• Questions based on the articles that I published in GeeksforGeeks.

Round 3: HR interview

• Tell me about yourself
• Why BlackRock?
• What are your hobbies?
• Willing to relocate?
• Why did you choose Computer Engineering?

 Both interview rounds were conducted and the results for the same were communicated via CDC of VIT on the same day. 32 students were selected for the software role and I was one of them. Later we received an e-mail from the company and 9 of us were assigned to Technology & Operations (Data and AI) six-month internship and received an offer letter for the same.
