Two such platforms are BigCommerce and Wix which provides different services to build websites and web applications for personal or commercial use.

BigCommerce is an e-commerce platform which provides different services to its users like creating online stores, hosting websites and web applications, search engine optimization etc. It is listed in the NASDAQ platform list. It was founded by Eddie Machaalani and Mitchell Harper in 2009 for the online selling of products. It became one of the top companies in Australia for providing software as a service.

Advantages of BigCommerce

  • It provides drag and drop features to build websites easily.
  • It supports multiple currencies to buy and sell goods.
  • It provides PayPal integration for payment options.
  • It gives AMP (Accelerated mobile pages) the ability to make it responsive for mobile platforms.  

Disadvantages of BigCommerce

  • It puts a limit on sales according to the plan chosen by the customer.
  • It does not have multi-lingual capabilities.

Wix can be understood as a website builder which helps the users to make websites or web applications for different platforms like mobiles, desktops, tablets etc. It comes packed with a large number of tools which allow users to build a website by drag and drop functionality. Along with website building, it also provides hosting features at a reasonable price. Wix was launched in the year 2006.

Advantages of Wix

  • It is very easy to use and no programming knowledge is required to build websites or web applications.
  • It is a cloud service which can be assessed from anywhere and at any time.
  • It also gives hosting facilities so no need to worry about hosting websites.
  • It provides free images and logos to use on your websites without any copyright issues.

Disadvantages of Wix

  • It took time to get ranked on google means it is not google friendly.
  • It is not possible to migrate websites created on Wix to other platforms or hosting services.

7. It provides only 12 free themes. Wix provides more than 800 templates to start website building.
8. It comes with better SEO features. It does not provide good SEO options
