Round 1 (Technical MCQ): 40 questions, 30 minutes. Questions were from a wide range of subjects from computer networks to operating systems. Some sample questions

  1. Identify the number of page faults given a sequence of numbers.
  2. There were questions from DBMS RAID levels.
  3. There were some basic Linux questions from disk partitioning. Given the size of /dev/sda1 and /dev/sda2, identify which one is used for /swap and for the OS itself?

Round 2 (Group Discussion): A simple topic was given. 15 students in 30 minutes. I made sure that I had some unique points to contribute to the discussion and say it in a concise and precise manner. I had a short time to make my point. Reading a wide range of books and listening to people like Sam Harris or Jordan Peterson was helpful for me.

Round 3 (Technical Interview): 30 minutes. I had mentioned “networking” as a preference during registration. I also told my interviewer that computer networks were my domain of interest, so I was questioned on my networking knowledge. The interviewer was genial and diffused my tension. I answered most questions. (What’s DNS? What’s OSI Layer? What’s encapsulation? What happens when you visit a website?)

Round 4 (Managerial Interview): 30 minutes, mostly technical questions. I was asked for more computer network questions. (Explain NAT. Is ICMP connectionless? Difference between ICMP/IGMP?)

Round 5 (HR Interview): 10 minutes. Brief intro about yourself and feedback on the selection process. Overall, it was a thorough process. The technical interviews were challenging but it was an enriching experience.
