Bajaj Electricals is a reputed company and nothing comes easy when applying for job companies like this. First of all, very rarely they have job openings, so you need to be constantly paying a visit to their website. And even if you find a job opening matching your profile, you might likely get rejected even before giving the interview. All one can say is May the force be with you. Before going for the interview go through as many recent developments of the company, its past and future commitments. Visit their company website to know more about the company. Try to look for their company vision and mission. Let the interviewer know that you align well with the job description and a perfect match. Update your LinkedIn and Facebook profile every now and then and be active on it because even social profile helps to show your active participation. While answering general questions, try to include certain facts and figures to showcase your general knowledge and let them know that you care about your surroundings.

Questions that an interviewer might ask an electrical engineer include general questions that deal with your education, background, interests, and motivations, behavioral questions that involve specific situations and how you dealt with them, and technical questions that measure your knowledge of theories and concepts. Do work on these before going for an interview.

So I had applied for the post of Junior Engineer through Timesjobs and eventually, my application got selected and was called up for the interview.

Interview

As most off-campus interviews especially for core jobs, many will be eagerly waiting for such opportunities and therefore you need to be patient your turn to come up. And the most important thing being read your Resume before actually getting in for the interview. Technical and HR are conducted parallelly, so expect at least 2 or more interviewers. One will be going through your resume and asking you general questions like tell us something about yourself, why we should hire you, your long-time/short time goals, your technical achievements, internship experience and may ask you to explain the various projects that you have done in due course.

Icebreaker questions were asked to most of the candidates before getting into the harder questions. Some top opening electrical engineering interview questions include:

Tell me something about your family?

Why did you decide to become an electrical engineer?

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

What are your short term and long term goals?

What motivates you to succeed?

What do you think that differentiates you from other candidates?

What electrical engineering computer software are you comfortable with?

Where did you get your electrical engineering degree and which classes did you excel in?

What qualities do you have that would be helpful in this job?

What is your specialty within electrical engineering?

Expect some really really basic technical questions that might tickle your mind based on transformer/machine design, power systems basics, GTD concepts, etc. Some other tricky technical questions can be

  1. Can you explain the difference between direct and alternating current?
  2. Explain Thevenin’s Theorem in a single sentence.
