Avaya visited my college for campus recruiting. All rounds were conducted on the same day, and it was a physical selection process. The selection procedure is as follows:

Round 1: This test was for 1 hour 20mins and it consisted of three sections.

  • 30 questions on aptitude for 30 mins. It consisted of quantitative aptitude and logical reasoning. Questions were majorly from ratio and proportion, compound interest, time and work, volumes, pattern matching, alphanumeric series, etc.
  • 20 Technical MCQs for 30 mins. The majority of the questions dealt with computer networks, object-oriented programming, C/C++ programming, data structures and algorithms, and operating systems.
  • 2 Coding Questions on the array, linked list, and queue for 20 mins.

Round 2: Technical Interview: Around 300 students appeared for the test and 33 students were shortlisted for the interview. I was interviewed by 2 interviewers and it lasted for around 40-50 minutes.
The interviewer asked me questions about object-oriented programming, computer networks, operating system, database management system, and data structures and algorithms. Some of the questions were

  • My Introduction
  • Create, Insert, and inner join query
  • Which language do I prefer for coding and why?
  • Why c++ over c?
  • Explain static and virtual
  • What is an abstraction with an example
  • compile time and run time polymorphism with examples
  • what is OSI? draw all the layers of OSI
  • what is MAC and IP address? which address can be changed
  • few questions on my projects and internships.
  • 2 simple coding questions

Considering my resume was related to cloud and DevOps, they asked me questions about those topics as well.

  • what is docker? Why docker?
  • diff btw Docker and Kubernetes
  • Kubernetes architecture
  • diff btw virtualization and containerization
  • draw the structure/diagram of virtualization and containerization
  • explain the monolithic and microservices architecture of applications

Round 3: Managerial + HR Interview: This round of shortlisting took place with 10-12 students out of 33 students. This interview was for 30-40mins.

  • strengths and weakness
  • family background
  • what qualities do u think a leader should have
  • why should we hire you
  • will you leave our company if u do not your get desired project
  • do you have any plans for higher education
  • rate yourself out of 10 in coding
