Consider the function y = |x| in the interval [-1,1]. In this interval, the function is
(A) continuous and differentiable
(B) continuous but not differentiable
(C) differentiable but not continuous
(D) neither continuous nor differentiable
Explanation: The function y = |x| in the interval [-1,1] is |x| is continuous and differentiable everywhere except at x=0, where it is continuous but not differentiable. since [-1,1] contains 0 , in this interval it is continues but not differentiables.
Hence, option (B) is correct.
