Round 1: Online Test

The test could be given from home, itself. It was a web-cam based test.

There were various sections in the test such as:-
1. SQL MCQs
2. UNIX MCQs
3. C/C++ Programming MCQs
4. English Passage based questions, and
5. A programming question

There were two programming questions in each set of the test: (i) Detect Loop in a linked list, (ii) Check whether the number is palindrome or not.

Round 2: Technical Interview

Venue: Techno India Saltlake

It was one to one interview. HR greeted me and asked me for my formal introduction and then he started to ask a few questions as follows:

General

  1. Why Amdocs?
  2. What are your strengths?
  3. What is your weakness?
  4. How many members are there in your family?

Software Testing

  1. What are SDLC and STLC?
  2. What is DevOps?

SQL and DBMS

  1. What is a Primary Key?
  2. What is a Unique Key?
  3. What is Normalization?
Then, he asked me to write an SQL query where two tables named Employee and Department are given. I had to print the name of Employee(s) who worked in the HR department and the first name starting from A.
  4. Types of Joins in SQL.

Then, he checked my CV and asked questions about my projects. What are the technological stack I am using and how many group members are there to develop the project.

UNIX Commands

  1. Use of the tail command
  2. Use of grep command
  3. Command to create a file
  4. Command to create a directory

Puzzles

Question) Given 10 coconuts. Arrange them in 5 straight lines such that each line contains only 4 coconuts.

While I was solving this puzzle he asked me that who’s the current finance minister of India. As I couldn’t complete the puzzle he asked me a simple profit/loss problem to which I could answer it but considering the previous question I couldn’t give an answer, I was nervous to answer simple problems that were asked.

I did end the interview in a good note but I was confused about whether I would be selected or not as I couldn’t give an answer to the puzzle asked but it was a surprise for me when I heard my name being announced for the HR round.

Round 3: HR Interview

She started the interview by asking me to introduce myself and then asked the following questions sequentially.

  1. Why Amdocs?
  2. Where do you see yourself after two years?
  3. What are your career aspirations?
  4. How many members are there in your family?
  5. What makes you happy?
  6. What makes you sad?
  7. What is your strength?
  8. What is your weakness?
  9. Tell me an incident that still excites you about it.

Then, she asked questions to be answered in Yes/No.

  1. Willing to relocate?
  2. Can you work on the night shift?
  3. Any problems with working with new technologies?

Later, I realized that she was marking the checkboxes in the declaration form upon which the interviewee has to sign stating that he/she accepts what he/she had stated above. With that, my HR interview ended on a good note, too.

P.S: What I would suggest is if you are appearing for testing profile make sure that you are thorough with the most important commands of UNIX and be good with Puzzles. Apart from that, DBMS will be an add-on to look into.

I hope you found this experience very helpful.

All the best to you. May you achieve success!
