The ratio of the salaries of two persons A and B are in the ratio 7:12. If A gets 10% of appraisal and B gets 20% of appraisal in their salaries every year respectively. What will be the ratio of their salaries after 1 year?

(A) 77:144
(B) 144:77
(C) 70:140
(D) 140:70

Answer: (A)

Explanation: Given that their salaries are in the ratio 7:12.

Let A’s present salary be 7,00.
Therefore B’s present salary is 12,00.

A’s appraisal = 10%.
Therefore salary of A after 1 year = 700 + (10% of 700) = 7,70

B’s appraisal = 20%.
Therefore salary of B after 1 year = 1200 + (20% of 1200) = 14,40

Therefore the ratio of their salaries after 1 year = 770/1440 = 77:144
