Over the years digital paintings and vector illustrations gained a lot of popularity due to their use in clickable web ads, creating banners, online marketing and advertising etc. Photo editing, manipulation, image management and creation have always been tough tasks for designers so a lot of IT organizations released different photo editing software to ease this task. The two best software for these tasks are Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. Both of these softwares are very advanced and provide a large number of robust tools to ease image management and designing tasks. Both softwares are paid and designed by Adobe Incorporation.  

LIGHTROOM-vs-Photoshop

Adobe Lightroom is an advanced image management software which is used to edit and manipulate images. It can be considered an extension of Photoshop which made image editing much easy. Initially, it was released in 2007 and its stable version was launched in 2022. It has a SaaS license and was developed by Adobe Incorporation.

Advantages of Lightroom

  • Image Editing is fast and file data can be preserved using non-destructive mode.
  • It comes with inbuilt cataloguing and file management functionality.
  • It comes with advanced tools like brush and gradient adjustment along with masking and cloning features.
  • It is very easy to learn this software.
  • Almost all types of file formats are supported by this software.

Disadvantages of Lightroom

  • It is a costly software which requires a monthly or yearly subscription.
  • Blending mode and layering management functionality are not given.

Adobe Photoshop is a graphic editor which is used to create and edit different types of images and allows users to save them in different formats. Thomas and John Knoll is known as its author and the development credit for this software goes to Adobe Incorporation. Initially, it was released in 1990 and its stable version was launched in 2022. It comes with a large number of tools to create and edit images like shape tools, selection tools, clone stamp tools, pen tools etc. 

Advantages of Adobe Photoshop

  • It is a professional photo editing software which helps in editing photos in an easy way.
  • Almost all the image formats are supported by this software.
  • It is available for various operating systems.
  • It provides a large number of templates to use.
  • It is an all-round software which produces high-quality images which are compatible with different platforms.

Disadvantages of Adobe Photoshop

  • Buying for a lifetime is not available, only monthly and a yearly subscription is available.
  • It is heavy software which requires a lot of memory and space on your system.

5. It is easier to learn as compared to Photoshop. Photoshop is a complex program so it is difficult to learn.

7. It does not have 3d object rendering functionality. 3d object rendering is possible in Photoshop.
8. It is cheaper than Adobe Photoshop. It is more costly than Adobe Lightroom.
