It was during March that I applied for Accenture Off Campus Drive for the position of Associate Software Engineer. The tests for the rounds are designed in such a way that we have to give our best in every stage of it. Let’s start:

Step 1: Aptitude Test: Before the commencement of these tests, you will receive an email that prompts you to choose a slot for the Aptitude exam. Mine was on 1 & 3 March 2022 and I chose 1st March. After choosing the date there are various time slots like 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, 4:00 PM, and & 7:30 PM (Don’t able to recall the exact ones but these are near to the approximate). You need to just choose your preferred slot and then you will receive an email of confirmation. These things need to be done 2-3 days before the test dates.

On the test day, you are expected to sit in a well-lit room with no or minimal sound. No headphones or external Bluetooth devices are allowed. Once all things are settled, the test will appear and it is divided into six sections, ranging from Basic English, Mathematics, Computer Security, Logical Reasoning, Puzzles, Operating System, etc. type questions. There are in total 90 questions and you have 90 minutes to solve them. Once you submitted the whole test, you need to wait for approximately 2 minutes as they will submit the test and inform you of further progress. You can expect two types of messages after the successful submission. Either it will display “You are not eligible for further tests” or “You can proceed forward with immediate coding test”. You will be able to attempt the coding test if and only if you passed the aptitude test with a certain cut-off. So take care to clear it with a good score.

Step 2: Coding test: This test is immediately conducted after the aptitude round. In this test, you get 2 coding questions within a time of 45 minutes. The Questions ate easy-normal in difficulty. You may attempt them in any language you are comfortable with i.e. C, C++, Java, Python, etc. Running the test cases is important. I was able to successfully execute all test cases of Question 2 but for the time being, I failed to solve Question 1 Completely. Still, I submitted and moved forward with the next step.

Step 3:- Communication Assessment: It was rather a surprise that I got the communication test to shortlist mail the next day of the test. As I solved the test on 1st March and got it on 2nd March, it was quick. They informed in the mail that to assess before 6th March. A link to the test was given below for that. The environment for this test is that you are allowed wired headphones for it. The camera is still on and it is an elimination round. Just try to speak in your normal English tone. The instructions are given in a computer-generated voice. I assessed on 4th March. The assessment contains unique sections and activities such as:

  • There are 8 sentences on the screen. They are in a numbered format. You will hear a voice “read sentence 1”, then you should read the instructed sentence and stop. Later they will tell you to read other sentences too. Make sure you read aloud the only sentence you are instructed to do.
  • Next section is like they will ask some basic questions. You need to answer them in one word. Some Examples are: You will hear “It is raining outside heavily. How is the weather outside? Wet or Dry” to this you need to answer either “Wet” or “The weather is wet”. Similarly, there are 30 questions like this. Make sure you hear and answer them correctly.
  • Long answer questions are also in one of the sections. An example: “Why do you like your friends?”. Speak about the question for approximately 2-3 minutes. A similar second question will be there too.
  • Next is story summarization. They will narrate a 30-second story and then they will give you 30 seconds to re-elaborate it. You need to mention the story in your own words based on what you remember. Try to mention characters, actions, and other necessary details.
  • Another section is a rearrangement of sentences. You will hear a sentence in a jumbled format. Example: “to go to school was very excited She”, and you need to tell this sentence properly “She was very excited to go to School”. There are similar around 25 questions you need to face.

After the completion, wait for 2 minutes for submission and then they will tell you to close the window.

Step 4: Interview: The Interview will be Technical + HR type. This is the sole interview. You will receive the prompt of selecting an interview slot after you get the message of successful completion of The communication Assessment. I got the mail that I cleared Communication Assessment on 6th March. I was to choose an interview slot on either 8th or 9th March. I chose 9th March, 2 PM as the Interview slot. You will be provided with the link to registration and candidate ID. After clicking on the link, there will be a box labeled “Enter Candidate ID”. Simply Enter the ID mentioned in your Interview mail and you will be taken to the lobby. Make sure you enter the lobby 15 minutes before your interview.

Even though my slot was at 2 PM. I received a ring to join at 1:54 PM itself. I entered the interview after clicking the join button.

Tips: Don’t press the on button unless it gets activated for you.

The Questions were based on projects and some basic concepts.

  • Tell me about yourself.
  • Can you tell me about a project of which you are proud?  – I mentioned about final year project which we are currently doing.
  • Who was leading the project, team strength, and how was the work divided?
  • A Challenge faced during the project.
  • Programming Language you are comfortable with?  – I said Java
  • How do you rate yourself in Java? – I said 7.5
  • Then I think you are also familiar with C Language. So can you tell me the difference between Call by Value and Call by Reference?
  • Any Questions?

The final result of selection/rejection is set to be announced on 18th March. It has not been announced yet but this is the whole process right from the start one can refer.

Final Tip: Try to sound confident during the whole drive. It is the key to success.

All the best!!
