Brief Description of Harappa Civilization-
 

  • The Harappa civilization is considered to be the starting point of a long and varied story of Indian culture.
     
  • The Harappa civilization originated in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent against the Chalcolithic background. 
     
  • This mature Harappan culture centre site falls mainly in the Indus Valley in Punjab and the Indus. From this, this civilization expanded to the south and east.
     
  • From the partition of India, till 1947, only 40 sites of this civilization were known. 
     
  • After continuous search work since the independence of India, till now about 1400 sites of this civilization have been discovered.
     
  • Of these, 925 sites have been discovered in India and 425 in Pakistan. 
     
  • Of these sites, only 40 sites have been discovered in the Indus river region, while about 1100 sites are located in the plains between the Indus and the Ganges.
     
  • This is the area of ​​the Saraswati river, which is now extinct.
     
  • The expansion of the Indus civilization is presently in three countries India, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
