5 Revolutionary Technological Innovations that Changed the World

Though not every idea got the success and rose to fame, here in this article, we’ll discuss several out of the box tech innovations that have changed the entire scenario of the traditional paradigms:

1. eBay

eBay was developed as an online auction site by Pierre Omidyar in 1995. People believed that it was a crazy idea that had no potential. However, it almost instantly rose to fame. Millions of customers, all across the globe could now purchase items from their computers, just at the click of a button. It almost instantly, made way for internet users to sell and buy goods to and from all over the world. New, used, and refurbished items found their way to the online market as well. There are thousands of sales per day on this platform. This brings us to the point that it quickly made millions with this new idea.

2. Netflix

Netflix came with the idea of revolutionizing the movie rental business and bringing it online. It was founded in 1997 by Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph. The movies from all genres (Action, Comedy, Thriller, etc.) can be watched online on Netflix. The videos, games, or movies that are not available online can be purchased and would reach the doorstep in a physical form (CD, DVD, or Blu-ray). The Netflix services are also available as monthly subscriptions, whose rates depend on whether a user wishes to use the physical format or not. This innovative idea of online rentals and video streaming has become a go-to for binge-watchers. This was a revolutionary step and it put most local video rental companies out of business.

3. PayPal

Max Levchin, Peter Thiel, and Luke Nosek developed PayPal in 1998. PayPal has made it possible to send money to friends and family, pay for goods, or get paid for goods and services. All this has become very simple and requires just a few clicks of buttons. This is a very secure way of payment as the knowledge of the bank details of both the parties is hidden. PayPal has changed the way businesses function. Some companies prefer PayPal as their only mode of accepting payments. This has become a very widespread way of transferring money especially in cases of getting paid or paying for goods or services based in a different country. PayPal gets paid for every transaction that takes place on their site.

4. Facebook

Facebook came as a concept of connecting friends virtually across the world. Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes invented Facebook. It was an innovative concept that was not generally thought of as potentially successful. Contrary to general perception, it became a huge success and is now a medium to connect to friends and families across various continents. The businesses then started using Facebook to connect with their customers and promote their businesses via Facebook post boosts and ads. For every person clicking on such ads, Facebook gets a commission. They have even added premium video games and a section for affordable games adding to their revenue.

5. YouTube

YouTube is a way to express oneself in the form of a video. Chad Hurley, Steve Chen, and Jawed Karim developed it in 2005. This has revolutionized the way people exchange information. It is used both for entertainment, infotainment, and education. There are so many YouTube videos that you could find almost anything you wish to know about on YouTube. YouTube makes money by charging the advertisers for placing ads on its platform. YouTube allows content providers to earn money if their content is good and if they are popular. The more the traffic the site receives, the more YouTube can charge its advertisers.

So, these are several big technological innovations that have changed the world and transformed the lives of people. Moreover, due to the fastest evolving technological advancements, we’ll see many other big tech innovations in the upcoming times also!!
